Spicy Honey Glazed Crunchy Prawns

For the prawns:

  • 500g large prawns, peeled and deveined (tail on)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup plain flour

For the glaze:

  • 2 tbsp TABASCO® Sweet & Spicy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (optional for balance)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

For garnish:

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chopped spring onions

Prep the prawns:

Pat prawns dry, then season with salt and pepper. Set aside for 5 minutes.

Coat:

  • Beat egg in a small bowl. Mix cornstarch and flour in another bowl.
  • Dip prawns in egg, then coat with flour mix. Repeat for extra crunch (Optional)
  • Heat oil to 170°C and fry prawns for 2-3 minutes until golden.
  • Drain on paper towels.

Make the glaze:

  • In a pan, mix TABASCO® Sweet & Spicy Sauce, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  • Simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly thick.
  • Add fried prawns and toss until coated and glossy.

Finish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions and serve immediately for best crunch.
